The medulla and a portion of the cord were removed prior to the cutting of the mesial section and the block was (Mnbedded in parathn; sections M micra thick wen^ made and stained in liematoxylin-cosin. Ti\e coriuia were well marlanl aud tlie dorsal cohnnns were jiarticularly well stvn. In an anophthalmic pig descrii)ed liy Duckworth ('1)8) the Wcigcrt method showed the tracts as clearly as in tiie control. Duckworth tiiinks this a strong sujiport for the tiieory of the laying down of ti\e pyramidal tracts in situ. In many cases of cyclopia recordetl in the literature, the descending tracts of the cord are absent. Let us l)rieth- consider l^uckwortli's specimen. THE ;1MICAL UKCOI(I), VOL. 8. NO. 6.
