kinetic theory of gases

kinetic theory of gases illustration Kinetic theory assumes the gas to consist of a large number of particles (molecules or atoms) which are small in size compared to the average distance between those particles. The particles are in constant random motion (indicated by the arrows on the particles). The two boxes contain equal numbers of molecules and are held at the same temperature. Those enclosed in the smaller volume will exert greater pressure on the walls of the box due to the increased frequency of collisions between the molecules and the walls.
