Old City of Dubrovnik, Croatia, seen from the surrounding hills. This historical core of Dubrovnik, on Croatia's Adriatic coast, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. It is a well-preserved example of a late-medieval walled city, with parts dating to the 15th and 16th centuries. It includes examples of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture, and is a major tourist attraction in the region.
