Bashamichi Building was born as the Yokohama Branch of Yasuda Bank, a prominent Japanese bank until the end of WWII. Yasuda Bank initially occupied the building upon its construction in 1929. Today, Bashamichi Building is home to the Yokohama campus of the Graduate School of Film and New Media at the Tokyo University of the Arts, serving as an important cultural and educational center in the city.
