Witchcraft. 18th-century artwork depicting a witch mixing potions by candlelight at lower left, and witches on broomsticks departing up a chimney in the background at right as another witch incants a spell from a book. They are leaving to attend a witches' sabbath (gathering of witches). Bats and various demonic creatures are also present, with magic items, including a skull, flowers, and a sand-timer, in a magic circle at bottom right. This engraving, published in Paris, is by the French engraver Jacques Aliamet (1726-1788). It is based on a painting by Flemish artist David Teniers II (1610-1690). The French title is 'Depart pour le Sabat'.
