Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. View of cardiopulmonary patients exercising on treadmills and exercise bikes. These patients may have had heart attacks (myocardial infarctions) and so are working on vascular and respiratory fitness. Exercise is an important part of treatment for heart attack patients as it restores the strength of the heart muscle as well as improving the condition of the lungs and circulatory system.
