Santa Maddalena, also known as St Magdalena, is a village in the administrative district of Funes in the province of Bolzano. Lying at the head of the Funes Valley, one of the most beautiful in the Dolomites, Santa Maddalena is overlooked by the massive peaks of the Parco Naturale Puez-Odle, of which Sas Rigais, at 3025 metres, is the highest. The pretty church of San Giovanni in Ranui, also known as St Johann in Ranui, stands alone in a meadow south of the village.
