Pair of flintlock names on the lockplates of pistols are those of the men who assembled them (known as the gunmakers). They ordered the pistol components from various craftsmen and then put together the weapons, which they signed on the lockplate. The gunmaker Leonardus Graeff was based in Aachen, but he used the same suppliers as arms producers in Maastricht. The warriors’ silver-gilt helmets are characteristic of his work.
