Paris France. The Arc de Triomphe and Champs-Élysées-Champs Elysees at night. 2000 The ceremonial arch stands at the top of the Champs-Élysées in Paris, it was commissioned by Napoleon to commemorate his victories in 1805–6. Inspired by the Arch of Constantine in Rome, it was completed in 1836.
