Methylene blue, molecular model. Atoms are represented by spheres (carbon: light blue, nitrogen: dark blue, sulphur: yellow, hydrogen: mustard) with the bonds between them as bars. Methylene blue (methylthioninium chloride, ) is an aromatic chemical compound that is often used as an indicator in chemical reactions. Research has shown a profound affect of methylene blue (Rember) in reducing the tau (protein) tangles that develop in the brains of Alzheimer's sufferers. These tangles form inside nerve cells, and impair the concentration and memory of those affected.
