Participants cross the starting line to begin the 2017 Defenders of Liberty Mud Run at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., April 1. More than 500 people ran the four-mile course, braving 20 obstacles designed to test the physical and mental limits, and included wooden structures, multiple rope climbs and mud pits.
