A silver mounted Ottoman shamshir,circa 1820 Heavy wootz-Damascus,single-edged blade with a maker's mark punched on the obverse side. Silver grip frame and quillons with floral engraving and two rhinoceros grip scales. Wooden scabbard covered with shagreen leather and stitched with silver wire. Silver mountings,engraved en suite and partly stamped with tughra. Leather replaced.
