Stunned fans have been given health and safety warnings to watch out for flying balls – at a football ground. Supporters at Manchester United’s third round FA Cup tie at Southampton were left puzzled by the high-visibility yellow signs stationed at either end of the pitch. The warnings were put up at St Mary’s Stadium as stars Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville warmed up in front of a 32,000 capacity crowd before their side’s 3-0 victory on Sunday.
