After defeating Prussia 1806 Napoleon ordered the Quadriga I. convict as a trophy to Paris. 1814 was made its triumphant return to Berlin that moved Rudolf Eichstaedt eight decades later for this painting. Eichstaedt, a representative of the most funded by the Imperial Household history painting was mainly known to frequently reproduced images of the liberation wars.
