A deep low pressure system in the Atlantic is forecast to reach the UK over the weekend of the 18th - 19th October, bringing storm conditions. This photo is taken looking South West towards the oncoming pressure system, along the chalk scarp of the North Downs at Reigate Hill, Surrey, with Leith Hill AONB SSSI (at 294m (965 feet) amsl and the second highest point in the South East of England) clearly visible on the Greensand Ridge in the mid view. There are pockets of 'Fair Weather Cumulus' over the Weald to the South, and you can see a clear line of building Cumulus caused by the uplifting moist air over the North Downs, and Alto Cumulus leading to Cirro Stratus in the upper Troposphere beyond. In the foreground are some houses on the outskirts of the town of Reigate, and in the very far distance you can just make out the skyline of the Hamsphire Downs.
