Snow at the Warbill-in-Tun inn in the hamlet of Warbleton, East Sussex.

The Warbill-in-Tun, as local legend has it, takes its name from a story that during the English Civil War and band of marauding soldiers came to the inn. One was thirsty and used his Warbiil ( a halberd type weapon) to break open a barrel of beer. The inn was renovated during the 1970's and during the work concealed vaulting was found where contraband may have been stored to keep it from the Revenue men. Sussex had a history of smuggling. The inn also is supposed to have connections with Richard Woodman, one of the Lewes Martyrs, who lived nearby.
