Castel dell'Ovo, Naples, Italy, 1927. Artist: Eugen Poppel.

Castel dell'Ovo, Naples, Italy, 1927. The Castel dell'Ovo was built in the 12th century by the Normans. Its importance declined after the 1280s when King Charles I of Anjou built the Castel Nuovo. The castle as it appears today dates from the 15th century when Naples was under Aragonese rule. From Italien in Bildern, by Eugen Poppel [August Scherl, Berlin, 1927]
