Hyperion supercomputer. Researchers working on units of the Hyperion supercomputer. This is a next-generation supercomputer based on Linux clusters, being developed by a consortium of industry leaders at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, California, USA. Those involved include Dell, Intel, Supermicro, QLogic, Cisco, Mellanox, DDN, Sun, LSI and RedHat. The results will be used for nuclear weapons simulations and other applications for US defence, industry and commerce research. Photographed in 2008.
