Rogers Slide is toward the west, a mountainnearly a thousand feet high, with smoothly roundedtop and precipitous sides. Graphite or black lead exists here in considerable LAKE GEORGE. quantities, and many beautiful specimens of garnethave been found along its sides and summit. Thestory of its name is as follows: In the winter of1757-8. Robert Rogers, with a small party of hisRangers, was sent to make observations at Ticon-deroga and Crown Point.
