This Superb Novelty was first exhibited at the Paris Exposition of 1889. It grows easily and quickly from seed, each plant being uni- formly of the handsome pyramidal form shown in the illus- tration ; about two and a half feet in height. Of free but regular branching habit, every stem is crowned with a magnificent feathery plume of the most intensely brill- iant red. A single plant or a row is so vividly brill- iant in the sunlight that it is almost painful to look upon — and yet so surpassingly beautiful that it seems impossible to withdraw one's gaze. The splendid color is most admirably shown off by the bronze - colored foliage, making it altogether a highly decorative plant, and one of most unusual merit.
