St Mary's Church or St Mary's the Mount Church is a Roman Catholic parish church in Walsall, West Midlands, England. It was built from 1825 to 1827 and designed by Joseph Ireland in the Neoclassical style. It is located between Glebe Street and Vicarage Place, backing on to Vicarage Walk in the centre of the town. Since 2012, it has been served by the Vocationist Fathers and it is a Grade II* listed building. St Matthew's Church (formerly All Saints' Church) is a Church of England parish church in Walsall, West Midlands, England. It was rebuilt in 1820-1821 by Francis Goodwin, but includes remains of the earlier church built around 1220 and dedicated to All Saints. It is a Grade II* listed building and on Historic England's Heritage at Risk Register.[The church was rededicated to St Matthew when rebuilt. The church is the oldest building in Walsall and serves as the main parish church of the town. It sits at a high elevation above the town on a hill and can be seen when entering the town. Walsall is a market town and administrative centre of the borough of the same name in the West Midlands, England. Historically part of Staffordshire, it is located 9 miles (14 km) northwest of Birmingham, 7 miles (11 km) east of Wolverhampton and 9 miles (14 km) southwest of Lichfield. Walsall is the administrative centre of the wider Metropolitan Borough of Walsall. It was transferred from Staffordshire to the newly created West Midlands County in 1974. At the 2011 census, the town's built-up area had a population of 67,594, with the wider borough having a population of 269,323. Neighbouring settlements in the borough include Darlaston, Brownhills, Pelsall, Willenhall, Bloxwich and Aldridge.
