Guyana, Demerara-Mahaica Region, Georgetown, The Stabroek Market was officially chartered in 1842, but a market had existed in that location much earlier. The market building, with its distinctive clock tower, encompasses about 80,000 sq. ft. The iron and steel structure was built in 1881, making it the oldest building still in use in the city. It is a busy hub of life in the city.
