Fixed upper arm fracture. Coloured x-ray of a section through the left arm of a 32-year-old patient with a fracture (lower right) of the humerus (upper arm bone) that has been fixed with metal plates and screws (white). This is a fracture of the distal (lower) third of the humeral shaft (diaphysis). The fracture has been reduced (set in correct alignment) using plates and screws to fix the broken bone in place during healing, and to avoid future complications.
