CROCUS. This brilliant and universally admired spring flower will thrive in any soil or situation, but to be brought to the highest perfection it should be grown in an open bed or border of deep, rich sandy loam. When planted in large groups or lines of distinct colors, the effect is very striking, and the bulbs are now offered so cheap as to justify their liberal use. They are invaluable for pot culture. To se- cure a succession of blooms commence planting early in October, 6 or8 bulbs in a pot (the named varieties are best for this purpose), using rich soil and planting about an inch deep. Place the pots on a surface of ashes, cover the lop one inch deep with soil, until the leaves appear, when they may be removed to the house. They can also be grown in saucers or bowls, in water and pebbles, in the same way as the Chinese Sacred N VMFP C'H' DREKR'S GIAIST NAMED CROCUS. These are large buibs of the best of the newer hybrid and > of their flowers, and are the best to be used for pot culture or w Caesar. One of the new hybrids, with very large flowers of rich purple. 25 cts. per doz.; $ per 100; $ per 1000. Cloth
