Anthurium, more commonly know as the Little Boy Flower, Flamingo Flower and Tail Flower, is native to the tropical regions of Hawaii . As a cut flower, florists favor it as a focal point in commercial arrangements. The waxy flowers, sold without foliage, last anywhere from 14 to 21 days if displayed in bright area away from direct sunlight. Anthuriums have a colorful spadix which adds much interest to the flower. The spadix is the growth that protrudes from the center of the leaf. It is a favorite gift idea for Valentine's Day because of the long lasting, vibrant red, heart-shaped flower.
