Black-browed albatross (Diomedea melanophris) flying over waves. This bird is one of the smallest of the albatrosses, having a wingspan of around 2 metres. It spends much of its time gliding over sub-Antarctic waters in search of krill (tiny shrimp), squid and small fish. The black-browed albatross mates for life. Each breeding pair produces a single chick in a cliff- top nesting colony, on islands in the south Atlantic Ocean. Photographed off the island of South Georgia.
