Snout rounded, its length 3 (young) to 3^ times in length of head; diameter of eye 3\ to 4 times in length of head, interorbital width 2^ to 2J times ; mouth inferior, transverse, crescentic, with obtuse Fig. Barbus fritschii. Type, f lower edge, its width 3 to 4 times in length of head; lips feebly developed, widely interrupted on the chin; two barbels on each side, anterior about \, posterior f to 1 diameter of eye. Dorsal I1I-IV 8-9, equally distant from eye or occiput and from root of caudal, border straight or slightly concave; last simple ray bony but rather feeble, not serrated, the bony part \ to § length of head.
