Aplasia cutis congenita. Close-up of the scalp of a 6-year-old boy, with a condition known as aplasia cutis congenita (ACC), where there is an absence of skin from birth. The skin absence at the crown of the scalp was caused by the removal of a heart rate monitor from the scalp during a traumatic birth.
