Facade of Lawrence Batley Theatre Huddersfield West Yorkshire England A relatively new theatre in Huddersfield situated in the town centre The building was erected in 1819 for a cost of 16 000 as the largest Wesleyan mission in the world with a seating capacity of 1862 When the Methodist chapel moved out of the building in 1970 by law they had to exhume the bodies of 84 wealthy Methodists who had been laid to rest in the vaults of the chapel for more than 100 years
