On Thursday, May 18,we came to Kettle Run,camping near the famousBull Run battle is where the firstgreat battle of the warwas fought, and it was apoint of much interest tous. Bull Run is a veryinsignificant stream, butit is very famous. Westopped for dinner atCenterville. Passingthrough Fairfax C. H.,and other places of inter-est, we found a camping place, ten miles from day we moved to within three miles of the town andhalted. We camp in a low, swampy place, but such areabout the only kind of places to be found ANDREW M MASTER*Company A. * Was mustered in as private in Camp Gibson. Served as Orderly atRegimental headquarters for some time. In 1864 he re-enlisted, and in 1S65was promoted to Sergeant-Major of the Regiment and was mustered out assuch, July 25, 1865. Returning to his home at Princeton he learned theblacksmiths trade. After this, he removed to Portland. Oregon, andengaged in business, in which he has been quite successful. He still residesin Portland, and from that distant port sends kindest greetings to his oldcomrades of the 58th.
