African forest elephant (Loxodonta cyclotis) herd. This elephant is found in the forests of the Congo Basin, and is smaller than the larger African bush elephant found on the African plains and savannah. It eats the leaves, fruit and bark of trees and other plants, and also visits forest clearings (bais) for water and mineral licks. Photographed in Dzanga Bai, Dzanga Sangha National Park, in the Central African Republic.
