Ancient doorway in the village of Caunes Minervois, France


Caunes Minervois is a village known for the red-marble with grey and white veins quarried nearby. Sought after in the 18c., this marble was used to decorate the Grand Trianon in Versailles, the Palais Garnier in Paris and the St. Sernin Basilica in Toulouse. There are many fine buildings with beautiful doors giving out ot it's cobbled streets.
