The bone-graft fixes the fragments,stimulates osteogenetic activity, furnishes a scaffold for bone growth, and alsogrows bone itself. For further remarks on operation see page 782. Treatment of Vicious Union.—If angular deformity results from faulty union,it can be corrected by molding the part into shape while the callus is soft. Ifthe callus has become hard, the bone can be refractured. If faulty union occurswith overriding, an osteotomy can be performed.
