They won their gold medal at the White City Stadium, west London, England, UK on 17 July 1908. Germany was second and Canada came third. The men's team pursuit was one of seven track cycling events at that summer's games. Teams started at opposite sides of the track. Each team raced three laps of the 1980 yard ( m) track – today it is raced over 4000 metres. The third cyclist in each four-man team to finish sets the time for the team.
