The hamlet of Lauzes is in the Cevennes region of Gard in the Languedoc. The hamlet is typicalty Cevenol with the buildings built of the local schist. The word “lauzes” also refers to a type of roof tile made from the local schist. The semi-circular structure on the side of this building is a bread over. In the past one house would often bake bread for the whole village.
