The tailshould be full and flowing, spread out at the base andcarried fairly high. Allowing for the difference in sex, the hen is almost afacsimile of the cock, though she does not appear solong on the leg. The weight of a pullet should be notless than 6 lb., and a hen 8 lb. The legs of both sexes are a dark grey, with blackscales in front, and showing a pink tinge between thetoes and on the side of the shanks. Serious defects for which a bird should be passedin the show-pen : Yellow skin or yellow at base of thebeak, thus avoiding a Cochin appearance, or a yelloAv orCochiny eye. Permanent white in ear-lobe is also aserious defect, or clean shanks, or white or colouredfeathers in plumage. Other faults to be avoided are too profuse or tooscanty
