Brewing Poteen (aka poitin, potcheen, or potheen) , in Ireland using a primitive still (C1940's). The drink's name comes from pota, meaning "pot" (small copper distillation pot). The potent brew is generally made from cereals, grains, whey, sugar beet, molasses or potatoes but can in fact be made from any ingredient that is fermentable .The Irish word for a hangover is póit. Legal versions have been named 'Fakes' by traditionalist because real poteen is illegal and can't be sold!
