It was finally decided toconcentrate the generating power plant at two points, viz.,at Glenwood, at the apex of the Y, and at Juniata Street,in Allegheny; and to have a third distributing point, i. c,a storage battery booster station, at Dravosburg, near theMcKeesport terminal, to be supplied with power from theGlenwood station. The steepest grade is on Pennsyl-vania Avenue, on the Manchester division, and averages. As now constituted the company possesses 117 miles oftrack, all electric, and 298 cars, of which 259 are motorcars and 39 trail cars. In selecting a site for its new power station to take theplace of the stations then existing in the western end ofthe system, the location of the existing station of the Pitts-burgh, Allegheny & Manchester Traction Company, oneof the constituent leased companies, was selected. Thispoint seemed desirable in every way, as fuel could be de-livered at the station doors from either of two railroads, or,at a slight expense for conveyor machinery, from the riverbarges, and as the station was near the center of gravityof the Allegheny section of the system.
