Unveiled on Empire Day 24th May 1905 by King Edward VIIth the memorial has 14 bronze name plaques placed on a semi-circular memorial wall with a central obelisk with a bronze sculpture at its base . The sculpted group consisted of two men of the Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC) tending a wounded soldier. The sculpture is by Sir William Goscombe John RA
