Landfill biogas industry. Excavation machines constructing a landfill site for use by the biogas industry. This site is operated by Trifyl, the company providing the household waste disposal and management service for the French region of Tarn. The waste deposited here decomposes under controlled conditions and the biogas (methane and carbon dioxide) produced is used to fuel a bioreactor. The biogas is either burned to produce electricity, or used directly as a fuel. Photographed in 2012, in Graulhet, France.
