Tycho Brahe's observatory. Historical artwork of the observatory built by the Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe (1546-1601). The observatory at Uraniborg on Hveen, an island between Sweden and Denmark, was built to make the most accurate measurements of the stars possible with the naked eye (to two arc minutes). This illustration is from the book Historia coelestis (1666) by Albert Curtz (1600–1671), a German astronomer who expanded on he works of Tycho Brahe under the pseudonym Lucius Barrettus.
