They are instructedto pay special attention to elderly peopleand ladies and children, giving them everyjiossible assistance within bounds of thestation. The men have been drilled inpoliteness and have passed examinations asto their knowledge of the train service,and are also posted on the City of Wash-ington and will give information pertainingto street car service and other importantfeatures of the capital. They are not al-lowed to request any remuneration frompassengers for their services, or to inti-mate that they are to receive ])ay of anykind. These porters also meet passengers onthe threshold of the station in front of thebuilding, and will carry baggage to thetrain and assist passengers to their seats. Their uniform is of blue cloth, with redcap, lettered F>. it ()., with shield on leftbreast containing figure of the dome of thecapitol.
