771 Royal Navy Search an Rescue Squadron Decommission on 31st March 2016


Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose, Helston, Cornwall, UK. 22nd March, 2016. Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose’s 771 NAS will formally decommission on 31 March 2016. To mark this historic occasion a formal ceremony was held on Tuesday 22 March 2016 in the Squadron’s Hangar. Guest of Honour was Rear Admiral Keith Blount OBE, Assistant Chief of Staff (Aviation, Amphibious Capability and Carriers) & Head of the Fleet Air Arm. The Royal Navy Search and Rescue Squadrons have been in service from 1953-2016 performing their SAR role saving an estimated 13000-15000 lives.
