Lerma, also known as Villa Ducal de Lerma, is a Spanish town and municipality. It is located in the judicial district of Lerma, region of Arlanza, Burgos, Castilla la Vieja, autonomous community of Castile and León. It is located on a hill overlooking the valley of the river Arlanza. It is the administrative and commercial capital of the region of Arlanza. The history and development of the town are irrevocably linked to the patronage of Francisco de Sandoval y Rojas, first Duke of Lerma, favorite and favorite of King Philip III, and by extension to the Duke of Lerma. Touristically forms with the neighboring towns of Covarrubias and Santo Domingo de Silos the Triangle of Arlanza.
