Sewing thread: inner bark of Acacia polyacantha, A. karroo or other spp.; flexible stems of Salix capensis (willow); Asclepius fruticosus; grain-bag string, to obtain which the bags may be bought especially. The fibre for the thread is soaked in water or milk, then chewed, to soften it, then twisted on the leg into two- or more ply thread (Fig. 15B). Dye: old kraal manure. Makers Women.
