Martian gullies, coloured digital terrain model (DTM). DTM data, also known as a digital elevation model, offers 3-D representation of a terrain's surface. The map is coloured according to height from the lowest to highest: dark blue, green, yellow, red and white. The gullies here form on slopes and are thought to have been carved into the slopes by liquid water. The data here was acquired by the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO).
