Bacillus sp. Coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of a section through rod- shaped Bacillus sp. bacteria. One of the bacteria is seem undergoing a cellular division at upper left. Also seen in the image is a bacterium not undergoing cell division. Here, in this late phase of replication, the cell wall (down centre of dividing bacterium) is separating the two new sister cells which have almost completely formed. Bacteria do not contain a nucleus, and the DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) genetic material is scattered within the cell. Magnification unknown.
