Morell Mackenzie (1837-1892), British physician. Mackenzie pioneered laryngology, the study and treatment of disorders of the larynx (voicebox). In May 1887 he was summoned to Germany, where he declared that Crown Prince Frederick did not have cancer of the larynx. Mackenzie was knighted the same year, and awarded the Grand Cross of the Hohenzollern Order. However, the diagnosis was incorrect and Frederick died 99 days after becoming Emperor. This photograph dates from the period 1880 to 1900, and was published by Marion and Company, a Victorian photograph card printing company active in London and Paris.
