Schmidt, John W. Pepper and C. B. Newbold. The feature of the plant exhibits ?was the specimen Nephrolepis exaltata superba. This is a tasseled form of the common exaltata and has all the other forms of nephrolepis distanced. The fronds are held erect, but at the same time curving In the most graceful manner. The tasselling- on the edges of the frounds gives the appearance of the ostrich plume much more perfectly than in any of the oth- er variations. The effect produced on the first sight of this plant is to call forth exclamations of surprise and de- light. It was imported a short time ago and is the only plant this side of the water. It was exhibited by G. W. C. Drexel. Many other fine speci- men plants, ferns and other ornamen- tal foliage were from this collection. Thomas Long, the gardener, is one of the best growers of this class of plants in this country. A plant or Alooasia macrorhiza was the best colored speci- men ; ever seen here. Mrs. Pennfield staged some very beautiful plants. Dracaena Souvenir de Francois Bause was a beauty, much like a striped D. Draco. Dracaena Sanderiana was also a splendidly grown plant. The John Wanamaker collection contained some splendid pieces, Kentia Belmoreana aurea, a superb Croton Victoria, Neph- rolepis Scholzelli and a very beauti- fully arranged table of orchids, which was at all times a center of attraction, were each especially worthy of men- tion. In the collections of chrysanthe- mums the following varieties were the most prominent: Mrs. Wm. Duckham, Morton F. Plant, Lynnwood Hall, Glenview, Cheltoni, Nellie Pockett, Merza, General Hutton, Miriam Han- key, Mary Donnellan, Beatrice May and Miss Clay Frick. A new one, Charles Totty, a huge reflex terra cot- ta, attracted attention. AH these va- rieties were seen in single flower
