Hownsgill Viaduct in winter.


The Hownsgill viaduct near Consett in County Durham was constructed in1858 as part of the old Stanhope and Tyne railway. The structure is 700 feet long, 175 feet high and has 12 arches, each with a 50ft span. The viaduct now forms part of the Waskerley long distance path and Coast to Coast cycle route.
